Question by southpride09: does someone have to notify you if they know a sex offender is coming to your house?
we've had a friend visiting our house and we just found out he's a sex offender. WE HAVE KIDS IN OUR HOUSE!
shouldn't someone have been notifying us about this--like his probation officer?

Nope, not all sex offenders have offended against kids and have to stay away from kids. There are hundreds of things that gets someone on that list and only a few involve children (heck, a lot of them have nothing to do with sex also). Also it is your responsibility to check the web site not the police to go around telling everyone where this person goes. The only time police notify the public is if the person is a level 3 which means the police consider them a threat to the public.
